Emanu-El Downtown Class Policies

Registration

Registration is accepted on a first-come, first served basis. Class size is limited. Online registration is preferred, though you can also register by calling Emanu-El Downtown. Classes are closed once capacity is reached, and you will be unable to register online. You may choose a different class or register for the waitlist. No payment is required to be added to the waitlist. If and when a space opens up, you will be contacted by Emanu-El Downtown staff. Full payment is expected upon enrollment.

Emanu-El Downtown will happily welcome new students into programs already in session should we have space available in the class.Tuition will be prorated.

Trial classes are available if there is still space in a class on the requested attendance date. Students are allowed to attend one class as a trial free of charge during a program's registration period. All trial classes must be reserved online. Families are encouraged to register as soon as possible following a trial class to ensure they can secure a place for their child.

Adult Participation

Participation of a parent or caregiver is required in all classes unless otherwise noted. We kindly ask caregivers and parents to put their phones on “do not disturb,” and be present while in classes.

Health Policy

If a child or caregiver is sick, he/she must be FEVER FREE FOR 24 HOURS before he/she returns to Emanu-El Downtown. Using Tylenol to reduce fever and related flu symptoms does not mean your child is “fever free”.
If an antibiotic is prescribed, wait 24 hours after the first dose is administered before returning to Emanu-El Downtown.
Children with gastrointestinal problems such as vomiting, or diarrhea cannot join activities until the child has been well for 24 hours.
If your child has a rash, please wait until he or she has been seen by your pediatrician before your child returns to school.
If your child has discharge from his/her eyes, nose, lips, open sores, or ears, please do not send him/her to programs until it has been diagnosed, treated, and cleared up.
If your child contracts a contagious disease (Covid-19, chicken pox, strep throat, conjunctivitis, etc.) please notify Emanu-El Downtown immediately.

Make-Up Classes

If a student misses a class they will be able to join any other Emanu-El Downtown drop-in class during that semester, pending availability in the class. All make-ups must be scheduled by emailing downtown@emanuelnyc.org. Make-ups are limited to 2 classes per semester.

Class Cancellations

Emanu-El Downtown reserves the right to cancel any class with an enrollment of less than 5 students. In the event of class cancellation, we will contact you with an alternative, or a refund will be provided.

Should you wish to cancel your class registration, you will receive a credit to your account for use on a future program registration. If a student must withdraw from class, written notification is required and sent to downtown@emanuelnyc.org. All class cancellations including ongoing classes, drop-in classes, and make-up classes must be submitted at least 24 hours in advance of the time of the scheduled class.

Photo Policy:

I authorize the Temple to take photos and recording of me and my child at temple events. I give the Temple the irrevocable right to use photos and recordings of me and my child without compensation or notification for the Temple’s promotional and solicitation efforts but without identifying me or my child by name. If you do not agree to having your or your child’s voice and image captured or recorded, please do not attend such program or event.

It is our policy to never identify children by name in our marketing materials. Parents who do not wish for Congregation Emanu-El to use photographs of their children on our website, social media or other publicity should email communications@emanuelnyc.org with the name(s) of the child(ren) and date of the event.

Temple Emanu-El cares about your privacy. We never will share any of your information with any third party.
